One of the perks of doing hair and makeup for Hollywood Royalty, is the ability to bring people together who's paths might otherwise never have crossed.....
Such is the case with Annabella Sciorra (@ASciorra) and my sister's company, Gypsy Sparkle (@GypsySparkle).
As many of you know I am working with the mega-star on a new feature film called "The Maid's Room", where I am the Dept. Head of Makeup & Hair.
Annabella was picked as this years Mermaid Queen at the 30th Anniversary Mermaid Parade, in Coney Island !
As a Brooklyn native, I grew up loving this parade & everything Coney! For those of you that don't know about the parade, here's a little background.
click here for info about The Coney Island Mermaid Parade
The Mermaid Parade celebrates the sand, the sea, the salt air and the beginning of summer, as well as the history and mythology of Coney Island, Coney Island pride, and artistic self-expression. The Parade is characterized by participants dressed in hand-made costumes as Mermaids, Neptunes, various sea creatures, the occasional wandering lighthouse, Coney Island post card or amusement ride, as well as antique cars, marching bands, drill teams, and the odd yacht pulled on flatbed.
Ms Sciorra was a bit apprehensive about her post because she didn't have a costume, that's when I thought of my super talented sister, Niki Katsikis, who owns a company that makes burlesque costumes and does custom orders.
I am proud to say that her company, Gypsy Sparkle will have the honor of dressing Annabella for this years festivities in a custom made creation.
By collaborating with Ms. Sciorra, Niki has designed something one of a kind to resemble the Goddess of the Sea. I have no doubt that this ensemble will be the talk of the boardwalk for years to come!

I am so excited to see the end result and watch as Annabella wears my sister's designs.
Congratulations to Annabella on her appointment as Queen, and to my sister and Gypsy Sparkle,
I am so glad that I could help bring you both together.
-Stay beautiful !
