This is how I bring a little bit of Brooklyn to Austin

I would pay twice as much for these brushes!

As a professional makeup artist for over 20 years,   I’ve seen more brushes than you can count, and I love these!  I have two sets of Nanshy brushes.  The Necessities Collection, and this one,  The Masterful Collection. Both sets far exceeded my expectations! These are beautiful! They come in two colors, I bought the iridescent white instead of the black and I’m so glad I did.  I also think it’s great that each brush is labeled ( just in case you’re not a professional). The bristles feel amazingly soft and the quality really surprised me for the price point! I would have paid double for this set. The ferrule is top notch so the bristles will stay in place for years to come, and they are 100% vegan and cruelty free, because animals shouldn’t have to die so we can look pretty! Also, synthetic bristles will last longer and clean  better. This set is moderately priced and worth every penny! I highly recommend them!  Come...

Eyeshadow tutorial for beginners

Just a quick video tutorial from my new Maange eyeshadow palette. A super affordable palette with 18 highly pigmented shadows in my favorite fall/winter colors. (So if you're a ginger like me, you'll definitely want to scoop this up!) Get yours here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GRRDTZ2 #ad It's only $9.99 a perfect price point for beginners and has everything you need for a day to night look. I started with "creamy" and applied it from lid to brow for an all over clean slate Next I applied "vampire" on the outer and inner corner Then I applied "volcano" in the crease I added a light dusting of "blazing" to blend the crease into the outer corner I lined my upper lid with a black liner pencil  I went over the pencil liner with "bronze" to soften the line and  continued the bronze color under my eyes to add a bit of a smokey look Then to soften and blend everything together I took a light dusting of th...

Sometimes… You can teach an old dog new tricks!

My best friend is 10 years old, she has four legs, and her name is Dita Von Dog.                              I recently embarked on an extended road trip with my dog. (OK, four road trips back to back, but that’s another story, for another blog.)  Two old dogs hitting the open road can get pretty monotonous, so when I have a chance to change it up, I take it.  I had read about these snuffle mats, and how it could be a game for dogs of any age, so I decided to buy one on Amazon. For those of you who’ve never heard them; a snuffle mat is a way of feeding your dog that uses their innate sense of foraging for food, while at the same time slowing down their ability to inhale an entire bowl the second it hits the floor. With the addition of a new puppy in the family this presents an even greater challenge. My older dog tends to graze, she eats a little bit of food and then comes back to the bowl w...

Whole Lotta Rosy - L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Rosy Tone Mask and Moisturizer review.

I have used L'Oreal Paris products before, so I was excited when I received samples of the Age Perfect Rosy Tone Mask and Moisturizer to review. While I don't exactly identify (yet) to Helen Mirren, I am supposedly in the "mature skin" range so I decided to give it a go... Who's it for? It's marketed for mature skin, and is supposed to give it that "healthy, rosy, youthful glow". According to L'Oreal, the Imperial Peonny Extract and LHA's in the mask ,   work to slough away the dead skin cells and reveal a renewed skin surface. While the day cream has a (very) pink tint to it, which add to the "glow" to give you that just scrubbed look. How do you use it? After washing your face, apply the mask in circular motion to gently exfoliate and leave on for 5 mins, then rinse off and apply the moisturizer.  Does it work? I wanted to like this, but to be honest I was very disappointed.  The mask was slightly irrit...

4 Reasons why I'll never use a standard charging cable again - ( 2 min read )

As anyone that has an iPhone will tell you, when it comes to charging cables for this battery-draining  beast, "the struggle is real".  I'm tired of giving  $20 to Apple so they can stuff their pockets every 6 or 7 months, when their standard lightning cable tears or breaks. Then again those $6 Chinese imports from 7-11 may as well be disposable!  So when I had the chance to check out the Power-Up Cable for iPhone and saw that it was coated in a nylon braid to make it extra durable and reinforced on both ends, you know I jumped at it! I mean, what's a Boss Girl with a dead iPhone? (unproductive, that's what!) Here's why it has my vote: 1- It's 6 feet long, so I'm not stuck leaning against the wall trying to send one more email while my phone is charging! "Wait until it's done charging", you say?    "Hi, have we met"??? 2. That nylon braid, not only makes it extra sturdy, but I don't have to...

The probability of love at first sight....

or how a shaving soap changed the   my world....                   I may have a problem balancing the girlie girl in me, with the cynical New Yorker? I don't usually think of myself as a hopeless romantic, but lately I equate everything to relationships, even blogging about products. As much as I'd like to be that wham bam thank you ma'am reviewer... you know, the one that gets the product and says "OK you'll have final copy in 3 days", I just can't. I need to fall in love with it, even if only for the moment, and for that I need to get to know you better .  Seriously, can you really get to know a anything in such a short time, enough to feel confident telling all your friends about it ?  Because that's what you are, you're my friends.  And friends can smell BS a mile away.  So I'm not going to candy coat it, if I love it, I'll scream it from the rooftops, and if I don't....well.  I'm ...

The Makeup Show - wrapping up part two

I've been going to The Makeup Show NY since day one, and every year after, so it was strange seeing it in my new home, LA. To help make this an unforgettable event, one of my besties & fellow beauty blogger, Stephanie (@newbeautyreview) flew in from Arizona, and we were special guests of one of the artists I look up to most, makeup legend Sharon Gault, known to most of us simply as MamaMakeup (@Mama_Mu_Sharon). Every show that Steph & I have ever gone to together, (and I think that's almost all of them), has been legendary, this was no exception. with David from OCC @ occmakeup with (@ JeffreeStar ) & Doe Deere  creative goddess behind LimeCrime @limecrime Lemme throw some pictures at you, just so you see what this amazing little circus is really is like, at a show!
