Sometimes ...Bigger is Not Always Better !

While reading this article, today on Tap Influence -"WTF is influencer marketing?", I was surprised to find that studies show, that it's not necessarily about how big your numbers are any longer, in the world of influencer marketing. It's about how many people you can reach and engage with to get your message heard. After all, isn't that the reason brands wanted influencers instead of ad agencies? We make getting your message out more personal, like having a conversation with a trusted friend. You want someone the people can relate to, someone "just like them", not some big corporation talking at them, but someone on their level talking to them instead. Well, the same holds true now, for those big name influencers who have reached "celebrity" status (I'm not naming names) you cutie-pies know who I'm talking about, (LOL) but they no longer speak for the "Everyman" when they're making 7.4 million per year in revenue! They don't sound like a trusted friend any longer either, because they aren't telling you a secret about a product they found that works, they are telling you about their biggest earner, their cash cow. They've, in essence, become an ad exec.
So for all you influencers on your way up, don't get discouraged if your numbers are not in the thousands, in fact, rejoice, and embrace your smaller more intimate audience, you just became the new "thing" !

Time for Me

I’ve been purchasing makeup tools for my personal use lately, my kit is stocked so now it’s time to take care of me! Being that I’m getting older and spend about 80 percent of my life with my face in my phone, I thought a good magnifying mirror was the way to go.  My latest purchase was a Trifold Table Makeup Mirror  here’s why; it’s got 4 different magnifications 10x/3x/2x/1x, (so I can see EVERYTHING even without my glasses on, it folds up for easy travel, and rotates 180 degrees, and has 21 LED lights powered by a usb cord which is included or 4 AA batteries (for on the go makeup).  While I like the ability to see all my flaws in different magnifications, (lol) the one drawback for me were the LED lights which I didn’t feel put out enough to actually illuminate the face and I noticed that I kept turning the mirror towards the window for a natural light source. All in all , I like the mirror and think it’s a great value for the price, I just wish the lights were bi

The long awaited post about THE MAKEUP SHOW !

I know, I know,..... it's been forever since my last post, and I could make excuses and say " a cross country move, a breakup, another move, (not necessarily in that order)...sometimes life gets in the way"..... but truth be told, I got sooooo much loot at the makeup show that I wanted to be able to actually use it, and not just on myself, but on my clients, so that when I spoke to you about it, I'd actually have something to say. So without further adieu, I give you ..... The Makeup Show LA Bloggger Bag There was so much in this "goodie bag" that I almost don't know where to start.  I have a few favorites that I could go on and on about so I'll leave those for last. Annabella Sciorra & Gypsy Sparkle

One of the perks of doing hair and makeup for Hollywood Royalty, is the ability to bring people together who's paths might otherwise never have crossed.....  Such is the case with Annabella Sciorra (@ASciorra) and my sister's company, Gypsy Sparkle (@GypsySparkle).  As many of you know I am working with the mega-star on a new feature film called "The Maid's Room", where I am the Dept. Head of Makeup & Hair. Annabella was  picked as this years Mermaid Queen at the 30th Anniversary Mermaid Parade, in Coney Island ! As a Brooklyn native, I grew up loving this parade & everything Coney! For those of you that don't know about the parade, here's a little background.   click here for info about The Coney Island Mermaid Parade The Mermaid Parade celebrates the sand, the sea, the salt air and the beginning of summer, as well as the history and mythology of Coney Island, Coney Island pride, and artistic self-expression.
