The Ugly Truth About Dog Seat Covers

If I told you how many miles I've put on my car in the past 4 months you'd never believe it.  I keep teasing you with tid bits of the epic road-trip with my dog that went on for months, but that blog post has more layers than an onion. This post is just one of them.  This one is about the dog seat cover that would have made my life so much easier. Instead of piling up all my blankets and pillows (and later dealing with the smell of "doggie anxiety" which never comes out in the wash) I could have simply clipped this to the headrests of the front and back seats and had her in her own quilted, waterproof hammock! This snaps right in and out, protects my floor from pet hair and kibble, and most importantly creates a barrier between the front seat and the back preventing her from jumping in the passenger seat to give me directions. (She's such a little know-it-all when it comes to GPS) Here's the best part, INNX gives you a lifetime warranty, so if you...

Sometimes… You can teach an old dog new tricks!

My best friend is 10 years old, she has four legs, and her name is Dita Von Dog.                              I recently embarked on an extended road trip with my dog. (OK, four road trips back to back, but that’s another story, for another blog.)  Two old dogs hitting the open road can get pretty monotonous, so when I have a chance to change it up, I take it.  I had read about these snuffle mats, and how it could be a game for dogs of any age, so I decided to buy one on Amazon. For those of you who’ve never heard them; a snuffle mat is a way of feeding your dog that uses their innate sense of foraging for food, while at the same time slowing down their ability to inhale an entire bowl the second it hits the floor. With the addition of a new puppy in the family this presents an even greater challenge. My older dog tends to graze, she eats a little bit of food and then comes back to the bowl w...

The Real (bend and) Scoop on Sticky Bras

When I mention the term "Strapless Sticky Bra", what visual comes to mind? Is it two beige yarmulkes stuck to your boobs? Or for those of you above a B cup is it sad Mickey Mouse ears, or a subsequent collapse of support?  When I bought the Yale Stuart Strapless sticky bra to review, I already had a preconceived notion in my head that it wouldn’t work. I have natural 34C boobs. I emphasize "natural" because I don’t have a gravity defying boob job, like most of the models advertising this type of product. My boobs are still perky for someone my age, one of the advantages of not having a child and breast-feeding, but regardless I’m not brave enough to go "commando" in a strappy sundress. So when I tell you I put this baby to the test, believe me! I wore this under my spaghetti strap dress and went out dancing in the Florida heat and humidity. Surprisingly, it passed the boogie down test with minimal jiggle and no slippage. After about three hours of shaki...

Whole Lotta Rosy - L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Rosy Tone Mask and Moisturizer review.

I have used L'Oreal Paris products before, so I was excited when I received samples of the Age Perfect Rosy Tone Mask and Moisturizer to review. While I don't exactly identify (yet) to Helen Mirren, I am supposedly in the "mature skin" range so I decided to give it a go... Who's it for? It's marketed for mature skin, and is supposed to give it that "healthy, rosy, youthful glow". According to L'Oreal, the Imperial Peonny Extract and LHA's in the mask ,   work to slough away the dead skin cells and reveal a renewed skin surface. While the day cream has a (very) pink tint to it, which add to the "glow" to give you that just scrubbed look. How do you use it? After washing your face, apply the mask in circular motion to gently exfoliate and leave on for 5 mins, then rinse off and apply the moisturizer.  Does it work? I wanted to like this, but to be honest I was very disappointed.  The mask was slightly irrit...

The crappy job that changed my life forever!

Please forgive this blast from the past.... Going thru my archives, I was thinking of my muse, as I packed up baby clothing for the proud mama who is due in a few short months.... This is a tribute to Kia, my muse. There are just some people that touch your soul... You meet them, and you are never ever the same again. A few years ago, while teaching at a makeup academy in Orlando (who's name I won't even bother to promote)  I was very fortunate, to befriend a wonderful student of mine, Kiarina. She was my angel and one of the sweetest girls I'd ever met. She seemed really shy and I would do her makeup to bring her out of her shell.  I loved doing makeup on Kia and considered her my muse. Months, after I had stopped teaching and returned to my life in New York, I got a call from one of my students about Kia.  I was devastated to learn that she was in a near fatal car crash that put her in a coma for nearly 4 months! I was beside myself, I had...
